PeaceHealth is seeking a Transfer Center - Lead for a Part Time, 0.60 FTE, Evening position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $21.90 – $32.50. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.

This position is represented by a collective bargaining agreement. There may be more than one opening on this posting.

Job Summary

Responsible for the safe and timely transportation of patients, supplies, specimens and equipment through the facility. Responsible for coordinating the day-to-day functions for assigned area. Assists with ensuring that departmental goals are achieved, timelines met and service excellence provided in all aspects of work. Subject matter expert.

Essential Functions

  • Assign work; plan and manage priorities, provide technical assistance, oversee staff schedules, monitor quality of work, monitor team projects, mentor staff, provide constructive feedback, oversee staff training, ensure quality improvement, provide leadership feedback on staff performance, and assist with goal setting for the team.

  • Transport patients by schedule and on request utilizing escort or wheeled transport equipment.

  • Transport materials such as supplies, specimens, records, linen, trash, confidential documents and equipment.

  • May be responsible for conference room set-up including equipment and patient care equipment transfers.

  • May clean wheeled transport equipment as needed.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma preferred or equivalent.

Experience

  • Minimum of 1 year Required: Relevant experience.

  • Preferred: Prior patient care experience.

  • Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs.

Credentials

  • Required: Basic Life Support.

  • May be required: Driver's License.

Skills

  • Good customer service skills. (Required)

Department / Location Specific Notes

SHMC - Transfer Center:

  • Qualifications: Graduate of an approved Certified Nursing Assistant program required; Certified Nurse Assistant - Oregon required; 1 year experience in an acute care facility preferred.

  • Transports patients by schedule and on request utilizing escort or wheeled transport equipment. Transport materials such as supplies, specimens, records, linen, trash, confidential documents and equipment.

  • Assists professional nursing personnel in providing quality, compassionate patient care by performing tasks involving direct and indirect patient care, using skills and knowledge in basic nursing assistant procedures and techniques under direction and supervision of a registered nurse and within the scope of the CNA licensure.

  • Performs basic technical skills which may include, CPR; taking and recording vital signs; measuring and recording fluid intake/output; applying dressings; recognizing and reporting signs and symptoms of common diseases or conditions; administering treatments as directed by a physician or nurse.

  • Assists patient with personal care which may include, bathing; mouth and skin care; grooming and dressing; toileting assistance; eating and hydration. Provides patients with help walking, exercising, and moving in and out of bed.

  • Maintains unit supplies by stocking patient rooms and supply areas to meet patient care needs.

  • Documents relevant patient care data

  • May provide clerical support to the unit, including order entry, chart processing, answering telephones, etc.

  • Provides non-clinical support to other CNAs in managing priorities and technical assistance; oversees special ordering, stocking and equipment placement on Unit; oversees staff schedules; orients new staff; provides feedback to the Charge Nurses and/or Nurse Manager regarding new hires.

  • Required: Demonstrates a courteous, caring, and understanding attitude towards patients, families, co-workers, visitors, volunteers, peers, and physicians; Must be well organized, flexible and able to function effectively and independently as assigned; Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; Demonstrates creative problem-solving skills; Excellent communication skills; Basic clerical and phone etiquette.

Working Conditions

Lifting

  • Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).

  • Ability to move around area with occasional sitting.

  • Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment (i.e. stretchers, wheelchairs, etc.).

  • Frequent reaching/ grasping.

  • Occasional bending/ stooping.

  • Push/Pull: Frequently up to 25 lbs. force. Occasional up to 50 lbs. force.

Environmental Conditions

  • Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.

  • Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals.

  • Time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

Mental/Visual

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
