PeaceHealth is seeking a Mgr Certified Pastoral Educator for a Full Time, 1.00 FTE, Day position. The general salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $36.55 – $54.83. The actual hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to, the job/position responsibilities, location, terms of the applicable collective bargaining agreement, education, training, work experience, seniority, work performance, etc.

Job Summary

Responsible for organizing and managing a clinical pastoral education program. Conducts education under the accreditation of the ACPE curriculum, recruits students, supervises students' clinical experience, provides educational opportunities, and evaluates students. Works in collaboration with Mission Services leaders to promote and integrate the mission and formation programs locally. Cooperates with PeaceHealth ACPE Certified Educators, Spiritual Care and Mission Services leaders in the planning and administration of ACPE Accredited CPE™ programs across the System. Engages and participates with regional and national ACPE entities to maintain program accreditation and educator's certification status.

Essential Functions

  • Develops and manages an ACPE Accredited CPE™ program that emphasizes student-centered learning and mutual respect.

  • Coordinates admissions interviews and communicates admissions decisions.

  • Designs and implements curriculum for student-centered learning.

  • Provides coaching and supervision of students; assigns, reviews, and comments on students’ written materials in a timely manner.

  • Evaluates students’ personal and professional functioning, writes evaluative reports in accordance with ACPE standards, and completes ACPE forms for students who complete their program.

  • Facilitates and attends meetings of the Professional Advisory Committee (PAG), in consultation with the chair, to inform its members of the program’s educational activities as well as to receive advice about maintaining standards of excellence in the CPE program.

  • Maintains ACPE standards for an ACPE Accredited CPE™ program.

  • Collaborates with the institution’s Manager of Spiritual Care or other designated administrator to provide spiritual care coverage and participate in other spiritual care programs as assigned.

  • Ensures education provided is within the context of the Ethical and Religious Directives for Catholic Health Care Services (ERDs) and the Mission and Values of PeaceHealth and Spiritual Care Services.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education

  • Master's Degree in Theology, Divinity, or a closely related area of study from a CHEA accredited institution.

  • A minimum of four units of CPE.

  • At least one unit of ACPE Certified Educator CPE.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years Spiritual care experience.

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in chaplain leadership.

Credentials

  • Required within 1 Year: ACPE Certified Educator or ACPE Certified Educator Candidate, Phase 2. Phase 2 Candidate must advance to ACPE Certified Educator and is considered for hire only when a training supervisor is available throughout completion of certification requirements. NOTE: NACC Board Certified Educators must have completed process of recognition by ACPE in order to sign off on ACPE units of credit

  • Ordination and/or endorsement by an established denominational or church authority or religious superior as evidence of good standing within a faith group.

  • Chaplain Current board certification preferred.

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation preferred.

  • Basic Life Support preferred.

Skills

  • Ordination and/or endorsement by an established denominational or church authority or religious superior as evidence of good standing within a faith group.

  • Skill in developing and implementing an ACPE curriculum.

  • Professional competency and communication skills in writing and speaking.

  • Ability to share personal faith/spiritual journey and experiences and to reflect theologically on spiritual care ministry.

Working Conditions

  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.

  • Sedentary work.

  • Predominantly operates in an office environment.

  • Some time spent on site in medical/hospital setting.

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).

  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
